How
to Obtain a Certificate of Occupancy for a Single Family Residential Structure |

The processing of a certificate of occupancy shall follow the guidelines as stated below according to the Standard Building Code: Upon
satisfactory completion of construction of a building or structure and
installation of electrical, gas, mechanical, and plumbing systems in
accordance with the technical codes, reviewed plans and specifications
and after the final inspection, the Building Official shall issue a
Certificate of Occupancy stating the nature of the occupancy permitted,
the number of persons for each floor when limited by law, and the allowable
load per square foot for each floor accordance with the provisions of
this code. The
following inspections must be performed and approved. To obtain the
following inspections you may request an inspection by using our voice

*Footing:
You must retain a private engineer to perform this inspection. Advisory: All holds must be released and all fees paid prior to issuance of a certificate of occupancy. You should call (770) 551-7721 or (770) 306-3036 10 days in advance to determine release of holds. You are required by Fulton County regulations to obtain a certificate of occupancy prior to occupancy of the premises, including furniture. It is incumbent upon you as the owner and/or contractor to obtain an approval on all required inspections. NOTE: Response times listed are minimum allowable times and are subject to change depending on work volume in the Department. |
